The Tour

Guided school food tours in Chester explore taste perception, food choice and food culture through a structured, discussion-led experience in Chester’s New Market and some of the city’s most interesting eateries.

It’s been designed specifically for GCSE Food Preparation & Nutrition — so everything students experience links back to what they’re learning in class.

There are no worksheets — just structured, thoughtful discussion that helps students apply their knowledge in a real setting.

Students also explore Chester’s history spanning 2000 years rooted in Roman-era street food, Cheshire cheese production, a thriving fishing industry and Cocoa Houses in the 1800s. Classes will learn how migration, labour and local industry influenced the area’s food culture — including the rise of Italian food in the wake of the industrial revolution.

It’s GCSE theory brought to life.

A young woman, Steph Peters, owner of Pastry Pedaleur in Chester New Market, wears a yellow shirt and a colourful hairband holding her tied back hair in plac. She is holding a piece of Mrs Bournes Cheshire Cheese, which is local cheshter produce, and talking to a group of Chester Food tour guests who are standing off camera during the dessert stops on their Get a Taste of Chester half-day food tour. The woman is talking passionately with her hands whilst leaning her elbows on a counter top, on the counter can be seen a number of identical cheese cakes on blue ceramic plates and a collection of other pastries and cakes in clear display cabinets. Our Chester walking food tours UK has a passion for local produce. Thier owner Stephanie Bath wants to ensure Chester food tour guests get real taste of Chester's and Cheshire's artisan produce.
