Most imporatantly you will be treated to dishes that in some cases, you can only get on my tour. You have small dishes at each venue that add up to a good sized meal, but I aim not to overface you!

There are quirky, little known stories from the city to keep guests entertained, and the route has been designed for sightseeing between food stops

Does the Food Tour Cater for Allergies and Dietary Requirements?

Yes, in short!

When you book a tour on the Chester on a Plate website you will be required to answer questions about your specific food requirements and subsequently, we can book these in with venues. If you are, for example, vegan, vegetarian or pescatarian then by and large this can be catered for. At any rate, before youir tour let us know sooner rather than later so that it’seasily sorted.

Allergies

If you have food allergies, especially nut or shellfish, please inform us so that we can arrange alternatives. More importantly, we can alert venues to ensure that kitchens are properly prepared.

Can I get a Refund?

Refunds will be given if you cancel within 2 weeks of your tour date. In extenuating circumstances, talk to us! We get that accidents happen etc. but this is a small independent business and we struggle if people book then change their mind and ask for their money back.

If you can’t make it, please let us know so that we can book you onto a different tour when you have availability. Or feel free to send someone in your place.

Our policy explained

For the Chester on a Plate Food Tour we pre-book all of our venues, food, drinks and snacks and our margins are tight, because we want to give you the best possible experience and deal wherever we go.

If for whatever reason we cancel (illness, weather) then you can rearrange your tour or decide you’d like a refund

If you book through other marketing partners such as Booking.com, Wowcher, and so on, make sure to read their cancellation policies. It’s usually better to book direct through the website 🙂

How long is the tour?

The tour lasts around 4.5 hours. From time to time, it may run over slightly.

What Kind of Places Will We Stop At

On a Chester Half-Day Food Tour all our venues are independently owned. Firstly, we favour small, outstanding venues with exceptional chefs. Secondly, we only visit venues with the highest hygeine standards.

You will enjoy a diverse mix of local and global restaurants, therefore you will have a great opportunity to try new things and sample local produce. Food is sourced locally, similarly drinks on the food tour are often locally brewed or distilled.

We work with the best Chester venues…

Not to mention having expert local guides who know everything about the growing Chester hospitality scene. As a result we have built excellent relationships with superb Chester eateries.

Please wear comfortable shoes as this is a walking tour, we aren’t scaling mountains, nevertheless heels might be tricky on the cobbles and walls!

What if I want an extra drink at some of the venues

As long as we are on time (usually around 40 mins per venue) you’re very welcome to buy an extra drink. Most of the venues are happy to sell bottles of wine etc. and so this is another option, but they always welcome people buying another wine or pint!

Do You do Vouchers?

Yes! A Chester Food Tour Voucher makes a great gift for foodies or people who like making memories and prefer experiences.

How to book

Click on the Book Now button on which ever tour you have decided on. After that choose ‘purchase as gift voucher’ and follow instructions. Alternatively head directly to the Gift Voucher Page in the dropdown menu. You will now be the best friend/offspring/partner ever. Therefoe, well done.

How much walking is there on the tour

We aim to walk for no longer than 20 minutes between venues. The majority of our strolls are short, and all are manageable at a steady pace. Given that there’s a no man left behind policy, if you walk a little slower, no problem. By all means rest! As I’ve said, there’s always things to chat about along the way.

Occasionally if the weather is extreme the route will be shortened for safety reasons. Even if this is the case, food stops remain the same. In the event that the weather makes tour conditions impossible, we will cancel and rearrange your tour.

Is the tour suitable for diabled people?

Accessibility

We are very happy to make adjustments for people with accessibility needs. Chester is an ancient city with cobbles and old buildings which subsequently presents challenges. For this reason a private tour can be the best option for wheelchair users. However, whatever you decide we will, above all, ensure your experience with us is 100% enjoyable, the same as every other.
